Program Description:
Rare bleeding disorders (RBDs) represent 3-5% of all inherited deficiencies of coagulation factors. Pregnant women with RBDs may be at increased risk of complications during the antepartum and postpartum period. Certain conditions increase the risk of miscarriage. Prophylactic treatment may help decrease the risk of complications.
Due to the low prevalence of these conditions, particularly during pregnancy, there is a paucity of data regarding management of these conditions during pregnancy. This webinar will help shed light on the challenge these conditions pose during pregnancy and discuss possible management strategies.
Learning Objectives:
After completing this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Explain the physiologic changes during pregnancy and how they may impact the management of RBD’s during pregnancy.
- Describe possible complications of RBD’s during pregnancy.
- Identify possible management strategies for pregnant persons with RBD’s.
