Jeanette Doner Mann Travel Awards

The Foundation for Women & Girls with Blood Disorders is dedicated to ensuring that all women and girls with blood disorders are correctly diagnosed and optimally managed at every life stage.
 
In support of this mission, FWGBD:
– Raises awareness and educates key healthcare professionals
– Translates and disseminates information and research
– Nurtures the next generation of healthcare leaders
– Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge generation disciplines

As part of our commitment to building the future next generation of researchers and providers focused on women and girls with blood disorders, FWGBD is pleased to offer up to twenty-five (25) Travel Awards in honor of Jeanette Doner Mann to support trainee attendance at the FWGBD 2026 Biennial Conference in Boston.

Award Description
Each Travel Award will provide a stipend to offset travel-related expenses associated with conference attendance, as follows:
– Local trainees (defined as training at an institution located within 50 miles of Boston, MA): $500 USD
– Non-local trainees: $1,000 USD

Please note: FWGBD 2026 conference registration fees are NOT waived and are not covered by the Jeanette Doner Mann Travel Award.

Eligibility
FWGBD will offer Travel Awards to North American FWGBD members in the following categories:
– Medical student
– Graduate students
– Residents
– Fellows

Application Process
The Travel Award application process opens at the same time as the FWGBD 2026 registration.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and will be accepted until 45 days prior to the start of the conference, or until all awards have been allocated. Click the button below to download the form. Completed forms should be submitted to Dr. Kerry Funkhouser at kfunkhouser@fwgbd.org

Notification
Applicants will be notified of award decisions within 30 calendar days of application submittal. The application portal will close once twenty-five (25) awardees have been selected.

Other Requirements
– Awardees must attend the FWGBD 2026 Biennial Conference in person.
– Travel Award stipends will be distributed on-site at the end of the conference.

Responsibilities of Travel Award Recipients
– Travel Award recipients must make their own airfare and ground travel arrangements. Travel Awards may be applied toward airfare, ground travel, lodging, and/or meals on travel days.
– Recipients are also responsible for registering for FWGBD 2026 and paying the student registration fee.
– Recipients are required to write a summary of their experience attending FWGBD 2026, answering the question: What inspired you to attend FWGBD 2026, and how will you use this experience in your future career and practice?
