FWGBD joins ASH in Letter to Secretary Kennedy Regarding Reinstating Blood Division of the CDC
On April 8, the American Society of Hematology (ASH) organized over 95 national and state organizations, including the Foundation for Women & Girls with Blood Disorders (FWGBD), to sign and send a letter to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), urging him to fully restore the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of Blood Disorders and Public Health Genomics. As part of the mass layoffs and restructuring at HHS, nearly all Blood Division staff were placed on administrative leave. The Division oversees key programs and activities that address chronic diseases in the United States and eliminating the division would disrupt patient care and research related to blood disorders.
