Drs. Maureen Baldwin & Allison Wheeler Awarded NIH R01
Please join FWGBD in celebrating WGBD™ LAN Members, Dr. Maureen Baldwin and Dr. Allison Wheeler, in their achievement of being granted an NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) R01 award under the Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs), Understanding Chronic Conditions Understudied Among Women, which requested research applications on chronic conditions that affect women and individuals assigned female at birth. These awards will fund research on chronic conditions that are understudied among women and/or that disproportionately affect populations of women who are understudied, underrepresented, and underreported in biomedical research.
Their project, Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Progestin Treatment in Bleeding Disorders Study, will demonstrate the relative benefits of menstrual suppression treatment options for adolescents and young adults with heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) and heritable bleeding disorders, will provide population-specific estimates for expected benefit that can be used in treatment counseling, and will highlight the impact of treatment status on diagnostic test results. This is a project from the WGBD LAN and includes nine (9) LAN centers as study sites. Learn more about the study, as well as the other awardees below.
Congratulations, Drs. Wheeler and Baldwin!!
