In this FWGBD webinar, held November 17, 2021, Drs. Andra James and Dr. Bethany Bannow discussed iron deficiency anemia in pregnancy. Anemia is the most common blood disorder encountered in pregnancy. This Webinar reviewed the consequences of, the screening for, the diagnosis of and the new thoughts about the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in pregnancy. At the conclusion of this Webinar, participants will be able to:
- Define anemia in the context of pregnancy
- List adverse fetal, neonatal and childhood outcomes that are associated with maternal anemia
- Discuss the causes of anemia during pregnancy
- Implement appropriate screening and treatment algorithms for anemia in pregnancy
