Our biennial colloquium on uterine hemostatic disorders convened leading faculty/researchers/clinicians to review our current understanding of the science and evidence-based practice related to the diagnosis and clinical management of abnormal uterine hemostasis.

The educational goals for this meeting are:

  1. Convene top experts in the fields of Obstetrics/Gynecology and in Hematology, who are working in uterine hemostasis and blood disorders in women and girls.
  2. Review the state of the science with respect to normal uterine hemostasis.
  3. Recognize the range of complications related to abnormal uterine hemostasis.
  4. Describe and review the epidemiology and variability in phenotype regarding women with hemophilia.
  5. Examine the full range of options for achieving uterine hemostasis in women with acute abnormal uterine bleeding, postpartum hemorrhage, and bleeding and clotting disorders including thrombotic microangiopathies.
  6. Develop and disseminate a summary of what was discussed regarding the state-of-the- science in hemostatic disorders in women and girls and identify research gaps.
  7. Effectively disseminate best practices in the care of women with abnormal uterine bleeding, hemophilia, postpartum hemorrhage, and thrombotic microangiopathies.
  8. Describe, and underscore for target healthcare providers, the intersection of obstetrics/gynecology and hematology in the optimal care of these women and develop mechanisms for facilitating the collaboration of these specialties.
