Program Description

This state-of-the-science Webinar will detail and disseminate current best practices in the treatment and management of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and heavy menstrual bleeding. This Webinar will have a special focus on the epidemiology, impact, and management of IDA on women, especially those women with a blood disorder. 

At the conclusion of this Webinar, participants will be able to: 

  • Cite the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in females of childbearing age and with heavy menstrual bleeding as reported in national surveys, multicenter and single center study reports
  • Recognize the breadth of health impact caused by iron deficiency and anemia in females with heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Discuss the impact on healthcare utilization due to iron deficiency anemia in females with heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Recognize and manage the range of medical complications due to iron deficiency anemia in females with heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Describe and appropriately apply available new and state-of-the-science therapeutics/treatments in the optimal management of women with iron deficiency anemia and heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Evaluate available iron replacement therapies – including appropriate dosing strategies and adverse effects of oral and intravenous iron
  • Manage the hematologic and patient-reported outcomes associated with iron replacement therapy in women
